'And Then Gandhi Came' is taken from The Discovery of India by Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru describes the uncertain condition in India after the First World War. The Indians were in a state of darkness and they had no one to guide them. Then Gandhi came and it was like a powerful current of fresh air. The essence of his teachings was fearlessness and truth. Gandhi removed fear from the minds of people. He stood in front of people as a symbol of uncompromising truth. Gandhiji's action was in
two-fold. First one was to resist and challenge foreign rule and the second fold was to fight against our own social evils such as minority problems, problems of depressed classes and end the curse of
untouchability. Gandhiji had dreams about India, to bring social and religious harmony. He wanted to ensure equal rights for women. He dreamed of an India free from drinks and drugs. There shall be no high class and low class people. Indian culture should be the fusion of all cultures. Thus Gandhiji lead us to the freedom of India. Gandhiji was a man of strong will power and self-confidence.

 Sub: How women’s issues are presented in Media.

 This letter represents my deep concern about how women’s issues are presented in the media especially newspapers. It is sad to understand that the print media of today is only interested in the circulation and financial benefits of papers and not about social issues. Cases concerning women especially rape and
molestation are given undue importance. All this creates a negative impact on the readers especially the younger genertion. Moreover, false values about women are being spread unnecessarily. Criminals are even glorified.
 Kindly understand the seriousness of this situation and try to instill good values and positive ideas through your paper. Advice your reporters to be responsible journalists. Please publish articles about women enterpreneurs and administrators who enjoy high position in society. Let our media spread good ideas and values. Let women be respected.
